Maths in the Bible

Children become familiar with the use of mathematical references in the Bible. They use their number understanding to find references and immerse themselves in scripture.

Intent

Our curriculum has been developed to meet the national curriculum, and we have selected some of our programmes of study that we recognise to be challenging, age progressive and reflective of preparing children for their next key stage of study.

In developing maths skills, we will:

Provide children with a common and progressive maths language used throughout the school.
Engage all learners in the enjoyment of maths and enable them to speak with increasing confidence about their maths understanding using an extensive and age appropriate vocabulary consistently modelled by adults.
Systematically use concrete, pictorial and abstract resources to support learners across the school.
Children make good or better progress in their maths learning as they progress through school. Where this is not happening, we will work with the SENCO and other agencies to identify any support that your child needs help from.
Books are marked using in compliance with our Feedback and Marking Policy and marking has impact on future learning.
Provide a learning environment communicates a love of maths.
All children make good or better progress.
Train all our staff to be confident teachers of maths.
Plan our teaching to challenge all children to make good progress.
Maths Mastery skills are taught to all children in school.

Introduction of maths exercise books to familiarise children with use of book layout on squared paper and to introduce our whole-school expectations for presentation to learners.

Maths interventions for identified children to close learning gaps and respond to identified learning needs
Regular half-termly reviews of progress in maths learning through teacher assessment, formal testing, leadership monitoring and pupil review meetings
