Bad Weather

Bad weather procedure

A decision to close the school due to bad weather may be necessary with very little warning. This may happen during the day or overnight as conditions deteriorate.

The use of local radio (listed below) is important. However, it is equally important that you realise such a system is far from foolproof, particularly in situations where conditions are changing swiftly. In such circumstances the decision on whether to send your child or collect them early from school is entirely yours.

Notice of school closure will be made on Suffolk County Council’s school closure website https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-closures/

on our own school website or on local radio (our school is grouped with the Newmarket schools).

Unless such notice is given, the school is open.

You are asked please to resist the temptation of contacting individual members of staff. They are not in the decision-making loop and will not be able to tell you anything more than is available on the radio stations noted above.
