Parent Feedback 2025

As part of our annual Parent survey in the Autumn term, we asked parents what was working well at the school and what at school could be better.  Below are some examples of what was said and how we have responded as a school to this valued feedback.

What parents like about St Louis:

  • Communication and Organisation
  • Age-appropriate challenges and teacher/staff guided navigation and encouragement
  • Engaging the children with the curriculum, clear expectations
  • The close knit school community
  • Teachers are friendly and very supportive
  • A strong school community led by a committed teaching team and supported by a proactive PTA.
  • There's always staff to welcome the children in the morning which is a lovely start to the day. The uniform is very smart.
  • Wonderful staff
  • Great communication between the school and parents. Good focus on getting kids settled and learning to read and write early in reception
  • Lots of different opportunities for the children based on their interests.

Thank you for taking the time to provide additional comments and suggestions. The table below aims to provide you with some feedback on comments that came up more than once…

Children can spend more time out exploring world in museums and on trips with more hands on activities

This Summer term all classes will be attending trips and/or having visits linked to a curriculum area.  We believe trips are a very important part of each child’s school experience, enhances their learning and creates core memories which will be cherished for years to come.

The children could do more events around the faith. I would love the school to have a Nativity play, a Rosary group, a Bible study after-school club, a school pilgrimage to Walsingham for example.

This year, we have had a Nativity play, Stations of the Cross, an Easter play and a group of children attended the School’s Mass at Norwich Cathedral as well as our termly Masses and Liturgies.  We are looking at re-introducing a pilgrimage to Walsingham but are having to consider the cost of coaches and the increase to the cost of fuel at the moment.

We are looking to find a volunteer to get Mini Vinnies up and running again and we would welcome any parent volunteers who would like to help us improve our offer.  The chaplaincy team are doing a wonderful job and their weekly assemblies are a highlight for our children.

Changing school holidays, including to a two week October half term

Term dates are determined by the local authority and our Academy Trust follows these and the Trust is guided by national regulations and agreements. These ensure consistency across schools and take into account statutory requirements, staff contracts, examination schedules, and agreed teaching days. While schools can sometimes make minor adjustments within these frameworks, the school does not have the authority to independently decide holiday periods.

Introduce musical instrument lessons such as piano, guitar or flute

This is something we are very keen to introduce, however knowing local peripatetic teachers to approach is a difficulty.  If any parents have any contacts then please let us know through the admin email address as we would like to get this up and running ASAP.

More opportunity for parent engagement

This year we have tried to improve the opportunities for parents to engage with school and their child’s learning, these have included KS1 Paddington Afternoon tea, LKS2 International Food Feastival and an open morning.  We hope to have further events and open mornings or afternoons for parents to engage with.
