We were very excited this Tuesday to officially start our new topic - Exploring Africa!

We began looking at African art, Mrs Cox kindly shared with us her fabulous collection of Masai beaded jewellery from Kenya and we were inspired to create our own patterned necklaces using card and felt tip pens.

We celebrated African music with the help of Raz, who taught us how to play the Djembe drums. There was a cacophony of sound as we learnt how to play in time together.

Next, we were lucky to have a visit from 'The Animal Experience'. We were introduced to African creatures great and small, including a millipede with 300 legs, a royal python with no legs, a huge Tegu lizard named Mowgli and a chatty meerkat named KitKat. We didn't all love all of the creatures but everybody loved the experience!

In the afternoon we celebrated more music with Raz, some ukulele and a special Africa themed P.E. lesson. I'm sure we all slept well that night and are ready for delving deeper into African life and culture over the rest of the Spring term.
