Kings, Queens and Castles
The theme in Holly and Cherry class this half-term is Kings and Queens this (by coincidence) ties in very fittingly with the Coronation of King Charles! So far the children have learnt about Castles, Palaces, The Throne Room, The Kings Guards and The Crown Jewels.
We looked at the architecture of Castles and the children had a go at designing their own Castle in pencil, then drawing over the top of the pencil with crayon, using the crayon to add windows, doors and brick detail.
Then they used the watercolour paints to add colour. The crayon resisted the watercolour because it is wax which created a lovely effect.
The children also painted some beautiful pictures of Queens for a class display.
